When her daughter's unexpected NICU stay in 2024 shifted her feeding plans from nursing to pumping, she discovered that no app had the functionality she was really looking for. So she did what moms do: solved the problem.

Milk Diary is her answer to a lack of quality apps that protect data privacy while helping parents actually make progress towards their feeding goals.

In 2014, Kaya launched We Read Too, a mobile app that showcased thousands of children and young adult books written by authors of color. The app had over 150,000 downloads in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

For her work she was recognized by several media publications and was presented the Making A Difference Girl award by former First Lady Michelle Obama.
